Happy Saturday to you! Hope you had a great week! It looks like it's going to be a fabulous weekend around here! Adam's high school football team is in the championship game today so we are off to support the team today...wish us luck:) Thankfully the weather is not "the typical" football weather so the four kids and I will cheer them on from the stands!
Today's card was inspired by an idea I saw on the Internet. The problem is, I don't remember where!!! If you know who came up with this idea of creating the Top Notes gift card please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due. However, I decided to take the idea and run with it! I wanted to attach it to a standard card size (it's actually only a card front). And then I thought, hey, I'll use this idea in my punch class! SO, you're getting two for one today...a template and a punched creation! I hope you like it!!!!
The instructions are fairly clear and shown in the video so I'm not including my recipe today for the card. However, if you would like to know anything, please don't hesitate to email me at adamsum@yahoo.com
I hope you have a wonderful day and I'll be back tomorrow!!!
Happy Friday the 13th to you! 13 has always been my favourite number, I think because as a child I can remember my Grandma telling me all about the wonderful things that happened in her life on a Friday the 13th. I must have thought this was pretty neat and so now, 13s my lucky number:)
ANYHOW, sorry for the babbling there...onto today's project! I'm still playing with the My Digital Studio, I actually can't get enough of it! I just love that I can click away, play, change, alter, move and do basically WHATEVER in a fairly short period of time.
I didn't realize that I hadn't shared Mark's Halloween costume with you. I can't take any credit for the idea. One of Adam's football players was telling Mark about his favourite costume ever and it was a Top Hat Guy. SO, Mark who really likes Paul and thought it sounded like a fun costume decided he too wanted to be a Top Hat Guy! So as you can see, we made a super huge top hat, drew a face on a shirt, got an old suit jacket and tie around his waist and voila a short legged, Top Hat Guy! Hope you like it!
For those of you that know me well I don't do well with reproducing cards in large numbers. By about 10 I'm in need of a change and something different. In some ways this is so much more work, but it keeps me on task and interested. So, this is one of the cards I've made for some thank yous to so many wonderful people we have in our lives. My family is very appreciative of all the kind emails, phone calls, gifts and well wishes you have sent our way since welcoming Cole. Thank you!
I made this card before we had Cole, so kept it fairly gender neutral - So Saffron and Certainly Celery. I wanted to make sure that the inside of the card was decorated as well.
The star is from the Nursery Necesseties Stamp set and I just mounted that on a small Kraft square and a scallop Sqaure behind that. I added the button just for a little extra something.
Often many of you ask where I get my inspiration for projects and cards and even colour combinations. To tell you the truth, it's everywhere! However, I did this with Nathan and I'll do it again with Cole, I'm going to post a "Cole's Closet" as inspiration (maybe weekly, or less, or more...depends what's going on:)
OK, so it's actually hard to see, but it's a cute picture of Cole, but today's inspiration comes from his little zebra sleeper. I used the colour combination (you can see it in the hat as well). The had is Ballet Blue, Brilliant Blue and White. Then on the sleeper there are some Real Red and Gable Green polka dots. SO, what inspired this card was the colour combination and the polka dots!
The card is Brilliant Blue today and the polka dots are all punched with the 1 inch circle punch. I used the Stamp set Choo-Choo and added the black stitching lines by hand. The greeting (that fits so perfectly!) is from Birthday Bliss (I think that's what it's called. The Stamp-a-ma-jig works beautifully with this stamp set if you're not one to eyeball things. The hearts coming from the engine are done with the Heart to Heart punch and after I put them on the card I covered them with Crystal Effects just to make them pop a bit more.
On the inside of the card I simply punched a scallop square and then the birthday greeting from the Birthday Blisss stamp set and punched it out using the wide oval.
Hope you like the card today! Enjoy the sunshine and I'll see you again tomorrow:)
Today's card is a special one for me. My Grandma was a very active woman in her church and always has been. Her UCW group was like an extended family for her. She spent countless hours working, playing and having fun with an amazing bunch of women. I had the honour of meeting many of them last year when I went down and stamped with a group of them. Well, they put on a wonderful lunch for our family after my Grandma's funeral and I really wanted to do something for them. So I made up this card for the group from my family to say thank you and also a box set of 20 cards (identical to this) that the group can use when needed. It isn't much but hopefully they are put to good use and this shows my Grandma's friends how appreciative we are to them!
Here is the recipe for the card:
Certainly Celery 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2, 2 5/8 x 2 7/8
Rich Razzleberry - 4 1/8 x 3, 2 3/4 x 3, 5/8 x 3 7/8
Very Vanilla - 2 3/4 x 2 1/2
Pale Plum - 1/2 x 3 3/4
Cottage Wall DSP - 4 x 2 7/8
Friends 24/7 Stamp Set
Sorbet Buttons
Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon - 16 inches
Old Olive Ink
Certainly Celery Ink
Rich Razzleberry Ink
Dimensionals
Glue Dots
Here is also a quick video on the card:
Hope you have a wonderful day! Both my boys are just sleeping now and I'm going to enjoy a cup of tea:) Take care,
Happy Monday to you! I hope your week is off to a great start! Well, my intentions were to have a card posted today with a video BUT well, as I'm sure you can imagine, life got a little nutty around here. I've just got to stop taking pictures of the kids and get the photos done of my cards and I'll be ready:)
Anyhow, today's page is as it says....Cole's Going Home page from the hospital. Again, quick and easy page, highlighting the sweet photo. I have to say that I love the option of changing the opacity of a colour in MDS. Sometimes, something may just be a bit too bright for me so being able to tone it down is a WONDERFUL feature!
Before I had Cole I started doing some much needed organizing in my crafting spaces and have "found" some projects that I had extras of. I have 3 ribbon shares, cut, packaged and ready for shipping. CLICK HERE FOR ALL THE DETAILS ON THE RIBBON SHARE. Please email me at adamsum@yahoo.com if you are interested in purchasing a ribbon share (Canadians only). Have a wonderful day!
Thank you to those that took advantage of my baby sale. I will do my best to contact you all tonight to get your free product order:) Have a great day!
Well, thank you so much for all your kind words!!! Our family is quite touched by all the support and excitement from you, thank you!
This is our newest little munchkin....Cole Anderson. I have to say that I'm feeling slightly guilty that my fourth child actually has 5 scrapbook pages completed and he's only a day old......talk about unfair!!! I hope you're up for some baby projects, baby scrapbooking and baby cards as this is what I'm sure you'll be seeing on my blog in the next little bit as I work on birth announcements, thank yous and scrapbooking. (I'll make sure I include other things I've been working on too....just let me know when you are sick of seeing my family:)
This first page came together really quickly as I simply added a bunch of different layers of Designer Series Paper. I changed the Opacity of the papers so they weren't quite as intense and vibrant on the pages. I'm looking forward to seeing what they look like when they get printed. Feel free to click on the photos as well to enlarge them so you can see the details.
This second page is a little more personal, and very simple but I wanted to share with you the ease of a layout. I wanted to document Cole's birth and entry into our family so this page really is about the journaling. I simply created a few different text boxes (one for the upper portion, one for the full text that is above the bottom photos, one for the title and one for the subtitle). I wanted the pictures of Cole to be more predominant so I kept them in colour and I put the photos of Adam and I in black and white. I hope you like the pages and again, thanks for the warm welcome!
On a little side note, thank you to those that have taken advantage of my BABY SPECIAL (CLICK HERE FOR ALL THE DETAILS) I have had a few of you ask if rather than putting in an online order and receiving free product can I enter the order in and just give you catalogue price no shipping or taxes. For sure I can do this for you, although it isn't quite as great a deal, but if that's what you'd prefer, please email me at adamsum@yahoo.com before midnight on Sunday and you'll get in on the deals!
Also, here is an update for my upcoming classes(I know, I know, it seems crazy to be having these clubs BUT I already have them prepped and ready!):
Monday November 9 - Kristy's Scrapbooking Group
Wednesday November 11 - Scrapbooking Group #2
Thursday November 12 - Punch Club
Monday November 16 - Template Club (NOTE THE DATE CHANGE)
Thanks again and have a wonderful Sunday....I know we will!!!!
Can you guess who made me this fantastically beautiful card? That's right, my mom! It was my birthday last week and for my birthday my mom always likes me to give her a challenge for my card. So, I tried to make it hard, but she sure made it look easy!!!
The parameters were:
use Rich Razzleberry BUT not Cottage Wall DSP
use the stamp set 24/7
include paper piercing
And didn't it turn out amazing!?!?! I love the colour combination she used, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Rich Razzleberry! Don't they look great together? Thank you mom for this very special card that I will keep and treasure!
The baby is finally here! Heather and baby are both doing very well. Cole Anderson Summers was born at 2:14am on Friday, November 6th. He weighed 7lbs, 13ozs and was 21 inches long. Heather is coming home tomorrow and will be sharing pictures soon. Thanks for all your support and comments.
For Halloween Emma had it in her head she wanted to be an 80's girl. So back in the summer I thought we best start hunting for treasures for her costume. Well, little did I know that those fun bright colours of the 80's, tacky plastic jewelry and fishnet stockings are ALMOST back in style!!! We went into the store Claire's and hit a JACKPOT!!!! 10 items for $10 and they were all that rockin' 80's fashion!
So, please fill me in, do I live in a bubble, is it truly back in style (please say no!!!) She had so much fun wearing all the jewelry, the high side ponytail and the makeup that Emma is really hoping it does come back in style and that she'll be "allowed" to wear these clothes year round!
Again, this page was created using the My Digital Studio program but you can easily adapt this to a scrapbook page with paper and embellishments or even a card layout! I hope you like it and I hope you have a wonderful Friday!
YAY!!! I am exited to say that the day has FINALLY arrived! Baby Summers will be welcomed into our family today! We are so excited! Now, in saying that it is a bit of a waiting game as I'm being induced and I simply go to the hospital when called, but I was told it would be sometime today!!! I'll post an update (or Adam will) when we have a moment! I have appreciated your kind words, thoughts and emails and am excited to share our exciting news with you!
In the meantime, I can't have a baby without offering you a special! I appreciate all you do as a blog reader, a customer and a friend! As a thank you for letting me be a part of your family, I'm offering a four day sale.....Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

Please note though that I may not be able to get you into the class until I return from the hospital (I thought I was being smart starting the class a little later in November....meaning this little munchkin would be here already...oh well!!!) Have a wonderful day!!!
I'd like to start off by saying WOW! Thank you so much for your very kind words and emails you shared with me on my Monday post. I am very touched by so many of you, thank you. My grandma was an amazing woman that I was lucky enough to be very close with and over the next few months I'm sure you'll see some scrapbooking and sharing of stories about her. Thank you again!
I've been playing a lot of catch up these past few days and do apologize if I haven't been as prompt with email responses or online orders. I will get to you, thank you so very much! I just wanted to let you also know that if you ordered a fundraiser kit, they have been shipped (unless I emailed you privately). Thank you again for your support. I do have some extra kits as well as some extra waterfall scrapbooks that I will be posting on my blog in the next few days.
Onto, my first MDS Halloween pages (OK, first from Halloween night....I'm up to 11 pages for my book on Halloween alone....told you I LOVE Halloween!!!!)
I LOVE that SU has begun selling add on packages to the MDS and you can purchase the Cast-a-Spell DSP! (I think it was only $6.95 and I've used it a ton and it never goes away or goes bad, once you buy it it's yours and you can use it a million times over!!!!) So, Nathan went out for Halloween as a "pooky pider". He really didn't want to dress up even when bribing him with candy. THEN, we went to Roy and Eleanor's (our wonderful neighbour's house) and EVERYTHING changed. Nathan quickly learned that all he had to do was say "trick or treat" and not only did he get candy, but Eleanor let him grab his own handful! That was all he needed to know and off he went for the evening!!! Hope you like the page today, I'll share Emma and Mark's in the next few days as well. Have a great Wednesday!
Well, it seems everyone around me is having thier babies (AND EARLY!) I'm okay with it though, my time will come! Anyhow, my friend just had a baby girl so as part of her gift I wanted to make her some girlie thank you cards. I just love the Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum and Certainly Celery combination so this is what I did:)
I did a quick video on this card for you but will include the recipe. A few of you have asked me how I get the bigger corners rounded as the SU corner rounder punch isn't this large. I actually use a 1 inch circle, place it on the corners and cut around it. Sometimes I like the smaller angle but other times I want a greater arc so this is how I accomplish it.
Here is the recipe for this card:
Kraft Cardstock - 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2, 3/4 inch circle (three of these)
Rich Razzleberry Carstock - 3 x 4 1/8, 1 inch circle (three of these)
Pale Plum Cardstock - 2 7/8 x 4 (corner rounded)
Certainly Celery Cardstock - 1 3/4 x 5 (corner rounded)
My friend Angie Juda has been going crazy making these sweet and adorable fabric flowers using the Big Shot. She has a great video on how to make the flowers and I will do a tutorial on this in the near future. (Anne, you'd be proud, I've been using the $50 Pixie to do all the sewing!)
Anyhow, I had made this flower and corresponding card last week for my Grandma. Today is my Grandma's 88th birthday! But rather than celebrating her birthday we are celebrating her wonderful life as she passed away suddenly last week. My Grandma was an amazing woman and I am so lucky to have spent as much time with her as I did. I was fortunate to spend a great deal of time with her every summer at the cottage for the past 33 years!
I was really happy with the way this card turned out and I know she would have been too so that's why I decided to share it with you. My Grandma was a seamstress (very talented) and loved different textiles and textures. So while putting this card together for her, I kept thinking how much she would have loved curtains or a skirt or something fun and soft made from these patterns. I hope you like the card and bow and I will be back with some more that I have created with matching cards in the near future. Take care,
Happy Sunday Morning to you! Hope you all had a safe and fun Hallween night! It was cold and windy here but the kids had fun nonetheless!
I will have some pictures of the kids up this week for you to see, just didn't quite get the scrapbook pages done for today. Instead I thought I'd share with you four pages I put together of our pumpkin carving evening. Remember, if you want to see the page up close, just click on the photo and it will enlarge for you.
This first page is of Mark and his creation. He really wanted to make a scary pumpkin face that would eventually end up having the pumkin guts spilling out of the mouth (yummy, don't you think?) So, we put out plastic wrap on the steps and had some guts dripping out for all to see on Halloween night. He was thrilled and that's all that matters! Then Adam and Mark worked on their Star Wars Alliance Symbol pumpkin. Lit up they both look very fun and bright from far away.
This second page is Nathan's Pumpkin Stickering. Not quite ready to hand over a knife to Nathan (although I'm sure he would have gladly accepted:) He spent the evening pulling off the white paper on the back of the Halloween fun foam sticker images. I was surprised how long he spent doing this. We then gave him a few markers to colour on the pumpkin and he was thrilled! Each day since pumpkin carving he has gone out on the porch to see his pumpkin and talk to it....it's quite cute to watch. He made a duplicate pumpkin for the neighbour as well because they gushed about how great it was he thought they should have one too.
Emma did her pumpkin a little different this year. She printed off a picture of a sweet little monkey and then copied the image onto her pumpkin. What amazed us was she free handed the monkey on the pumpkin! It turned out great! She then used a screw driver and chipped away a ridge on the lines she drew. Then she and Adam scraped away the inside of the pumpkin so when the candle was lit you would see the outline image of her monkey.
This page was fun to make as I used a DSP as the background and then used the Extreme Elements stamp set on the DSP just to spook it up a bit. The DSP is the Cast-a-Spell and I was able to purchase this as an add on for about $7!!! How exciting is that!?!?! Another feature I figured out on this page was how to make the photo a circle, this is quick and easy!
The last page (I know, seriously, who needs four pages on pumpkin carving....that'd be me!) is a summary of everyone that was there (almost....Aunt Sandra and Karen came a little later).
This page was another quick and easy one. The big sheet of DSP in the background is done using the PUNCH option in MDS. I then filled it with the DSP and added a shadow. It just offers a neat alternative to a straight edge. The title was done using a stamp set included in the My Digital Studio. This page was very simple but I am happy with the overall effect.
Hope you've enjoyed the scrapbook pages today and can either use them as inspiration for your traditional scrapbooking, card making OR maybe you've made the plunge and have entered the digital world!!!! Take care,
Well, it's here...one of my favourite holidays of the year! I love Halloween! I love the excitement in the house! I love that the kids can't wait to get in costume and trick or treat! It's just so much fun and great family time!!!
I thought I would share with you some of the Halloween creations we did this year and that my wonderful friends have shared with me! I will have more to post in the next week (I know, post Halloween, BUT it'll give you ideas for next year or other holidays, right?) This first bat is what Emma made for her classmates this year. This was not an original idea, I saw it HERE and just had to case it! Isn't it just too darn cute!?!?! Thanks Julie for the inspiration!!!!
These boxes were sent to us from my mom for the kids! She is just too sweet and thoughtful! The witches were part of my online holiday punch class, but adding the Sweet Treat cup holders is over the top! Love the matching bubbles to the Smartie colours! Emma, Mark and Nathan LOVED getting these....who wouldn't? Nathan kept asking when he could eat the "farties" and that Gramma would let him eat them for breakfast (he's a little cheeky that one!) I also love how the Smarties are a perfect match for the SU cardstock! (To all my US friends, in Canada these little treats are called Smarties and are candy coated chocolates....we call your version of Smarties, Rockets)
I also received some super sweet Halloween cards! As I said, I have more to share (but I have to take pictures first)
This first card is from my friend and downline Dale. Isn't it just so sweet! I love the colours in this one....I wish I had of kept some of that retired SU Halloween paper! Thank you so much Dale! You can check out her blog HERE.
This next card is from my friend and fellow demonstrator Anne. The front image really looks fabulous against the brayered background. Again the colours really pop for this fun time of year. Nathan thinks this card is too "pooky" though! Very cute. Thanks Anne! Check out here blog HERE.
Last but certainly not least, this card is from Jodie, another great friend and downline! I LOVE the simplicity of this card! The monochromatic colour scheme is perfect for Halloween and the little dangling spider just makes me happy:) Check out Jodie's blog HERE.
Well, I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween!!! Hopefully I'll have some MDS to share with you tomorrow from our Halloween night! Take care,
These cards were the other three we did at our Mystery Night the other night. My goal at this class was to show how you can use the same dimensions and colours and stamps to make three very different cards.
If you have never attended one of my Mystery Night classes, I have to say they are one of my favourite classes to host. Partially because I have 8 crazy, I mean lovely, ladies that are willing to come to my house with no clue what we are doing! I also get to act as "Santa" and share lots of treats with you (this class everyone went home with either Patterned Pines or Snow Buddies!) But I think they are my favourite because they are very low key, laid back and a great social evening. Thanks ladies for making them so fun!
OK, sorry, onto the cards..... The colours I used are Soft Suede, Bravo Burgundy and Creamy Caramel with some Vanilla thrown in (doesn't that sound yummy?)
All of the cards were cut 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 in the Soft Suede. The Creamy Caramel is 4 1/4 x 3 3/4 (then scalloped), the Burgundy is 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 and then a 1 x 3 3/4 strip for the end of the Creamy Caramel. The Vanilla is 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 and then a Vanilla and Burdundy Modern Label were also used. All pieces were sponged using the Soft Suede ink. We coloured using Pumpkin Pie, Burgundy, Soft Suede and Creamy Caramel.
Each of the cards has a little bit different embellishment on it. The first one shown used the Kraft Cord button with a strip of cardstock through the button holes. The second card uses a 2 inch piece of the Soft Suede ribbon and the last card uses both the Soft Suede and the Burgundy ribbon.
One great feature of this stamp set is how versatile it can be in so many colours. You could do this same layout and use a Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue colour scheme or what about More Mustard, Real Red and Old Olive. How fun would those be???
I also have a few updates for you today:
1. ALL ribbon shares have been shipped out as of this morning (took them to the Post Office last night). So if you've ordered a ribbon share please keep an eye out for that coming.
2. I will be shipping the fundraiser kits on Monday with the door prizes included. I do appologize for this delay we've had a bit of a week around here but will get organized this weekend. I really appreciate your patience and understanding.
3. Lots of you have been asking...not baby yet. I promise to keep you in the loop. I'm now "overdue" and if this little munchkin doesn't make an appearance on it's own, I'll be induced on Thursday.
Have a great day! Remember, if you're interested in this level 2 hostess set, one lucky online shopper will win this stamp set this month:) Take care,
It seems to be a bit of a rough time of year for a lot of people close to me so I have been making some thinking of you cards to send out. Fall is my favourite time of year and I just love the colours that come with the season. More Mustard has got to be my favourite!!! This card was quick and simple using the square punches and the stamp set Trendy Trees. The colours are Always Artichoke, Soft Suede and More Mustard.
I'm sorry today's post is so quick. I will be back tomorrow with a very fun post that I'm excited to share and then some videos this weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by and know, I'm Thinking of You!
Happy Wednesday to you! Hope all is well with you this week! It's been a busy one around here! Lots of fun though getting ready for Halloween! The kids are so excited! Nathan is telling everyone he is a "pooky pider" and Mark's costume is JUST about done! Emma has had her costume ready and planned for a good six weeks!
Well, I love today's card that I made for a friend. A friend of mine just had a little boy and wanted some baby thank you cards. I wanted to go "non traditional" in colour and am so glad that I did! This card is very similar to the star card I did the other day (that's what inspired this one)
Here is the recipe:
Chocolate Chip Cardstock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4, 2 1/4 x 5 1/4, 1 3/4 x 5 1/4, Large Heart 102128
Tempting Turquoise Cardstock - 4 x 5 1/4, Large Heart 102067
Old Olive Cardstock - Large Heart 100702
Tempting Turquoise Ink 100814
Chocolate Chip Ink 100908
Chocolate Chip Button 114339
Glue Dot 103683
Full Heart Punch 113693
Old Olive Striped Grosgrain Ribbon 115618
Whisper White Craft Ink 101731
Nursery Necessities Stamp Set 113506
Here is a quick video for you:
Hope you have a wonderful day and I'll see you again tomorrow:)
This card was so quick and simple yet I love it! I love the layered cardstock, the dimension and the "pop". I received a card at Founders Circle that was Vanilla cardstock on Vanilla cardstock layered and I really was wowed by it! So I decided to try it with none other than my favourite....Kraft!
To differentiate between the layers I added Dimensionals and also some dry embossing. I simply ran the cardstock through my cutter with the scoring blade on to get the embossed line on each of the layers.
The stars were done using the Large Star Punch and each of them are sponged using Whisper White Craft ink. The buttons are from the Playground assorted button package.
Here is the recipe for this card:
Kraft Cardstock - 11 x 4 1/4 scored at 5 1/2, 1 3/4 x 5 1/2, 2 1/4 x 5 1/2
OK, I guess it's not that much of a mystery if I am showing you three of the cards we are making tonight but I couldn't wait to share! I am in LOVE with the colour combination for this card....Kraft, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery. This is very "not" traditional but I love the colours! And with the stamp set Patterned Pines I'm even happier! I love the look of the trees cut out and layered. The are so simple to cut because of the nice straight lines!
The other great feature....the button pack, Sherbet matches these cards! How fun is that!?!?! I think I may make a bunch of these as my Christmas cards this year.
Here is the recipe for these cards:
Kraft Cardstock - 11 x 4 1/4 scored at 5 1/2 102125
Pretty in Pink OR Bashful Blue OR Certainly Celery - 2 3/4 x 4 100459, 105120, 105125
Corner Rounder 109047
Patterned Pines
Christmas Greeting Stamp Set
Pretty in Pink Classic Ink 101301
Bashful Blue Classic Ink 105209
Certainly Celery Classic Ink 105217
Sherbet Buttons 116312
Whisper White Craft Ink 101731
White Embossing Powder 109132
Versamark 102283
Dimensionals 104430
Linen Thread 104199
Glue Dots 103683
Paper Piercer 116631
Mat Pack 105826
Here are brief instructions (as I don't have a video for this one):
Using Versamark, stamp the snowflake from the Patterned Pines stamp set randomly over the back of the card
Corner Round the coloured cardstock
Stamp the trees in the three ink colours
Cut out the trees
Run the coloured cardstock and the Kraft card in the Whisper White Craft ink to soften the edges
Paper Pierce a strip of holes along the straight edge of the coloured cardstock
Stamp the Greeting in Versamark, sprinkle with the embossing powder and heat
Attach the coloured cardstock to the card front
Attach the trees (the front tree is popped up on dimensionals)
Tie the linen thread through the button and attach to the card front with a glue dot
Hope you have a wonderful day and I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow!
What a fun and successful day we had yesterday! It was our GI Cancer Fundraiser that I host each year in memory of my dad. Well, I was so proud of my downline, my family and my friends/customers. We had a very fun day full of stamping, prizes, snacks and fun!!!! I appreciate all the support offered by all of you through best wishes, donations, attendance and so much more!!! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! We had a very successful day and I think once all the loose ends are tied up we raised about $3500 for GI Cancer Research! That is amazing....thank you!!!! This brings our total in five years of fundraising to almost $12000!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

If you ordered a kit from me, they will be in the mail ASAP. I had a few extra people show up at the event so I do have to order some stamps today and will get your kits (and of course door prizes out to you ASAP) Thank you again for your support and encouragement!
Happy Saturday morning to you! Just getting all my last minute things together for my fundraiser today! I am excited to share photos and stories with you tomorrow:)
Now, I did promise that I would make a card in my scrapbook layout from yesterday. I love the layout for a scrapbook page because I can include lots of photos on the page. BUT, as a card I can also include lots of details!
I used the stamp set Just Beclause from the Holiday Mini catalogue. I really like this set as you don't need to do a lot of colouring with this set if you don't want to. It can be very basic and simple (or of course you can be more elaborate!) I also used the star from the Patterned Pines set as a little background. The colours on this card are Caramel, Burgundy, Soft Suede adn Vanilla (all SU). I'll try and put dimensions on later today for you.
So tell me, what do you think? Can a scrapbook page layout work as a card? Love any feedback you may have!
I do have 2 spots left for my Mystery Class on Monday night in case you are interested! Have a great day, we will:)
Happy Friday to you! One thing that I just love about the My Digital Studio is how instantly I can create a page. My good friend Sonia showed up with these "smashable" sweet jammies for Nathan on Wednesday, we did a little photo shoot on Thursday and voila today I'm sharing a page with you. I didn't have to run out and get my photos developed yet "I'm done" this page! How fun is that!?!?
You may recognize the layout from this page. I completely scraplifted it from a page I had done a month or two ago. You'll never know looking through my scrapbooks they are the same layout as they'll be in different albums. I was so excited that I could adapt the program, the punches, the stamps, the mats for the photos to look like my original page. I also thought this layout would make for a very fun card (check back tomorrow:)
So tomorrow's the BIG day! Fundraiser!!! I'm so excited to see so many of you tomorrow. If you need a map or the supply list please CLICK HERE for all the details! See you tomorrow!

I have to take a moment to gush on about my daughter Emma. She is such a lovely girl, she really is and I am so proud of all she does. She loves to stamp and create but most of all punch. So after much discussion (and some business transactions:) we have decided to offer an Simply Emma's Online Punch Class! She is SO excited!!!! We are calling the class Simply Punches Kids but really the class is for the young and the young at heart! Emma has made 10 videos, 10 different projects and we have put together 10 PDFs for you to use to help you create her punched creations! Emma decided she wanted to make a video on how to make this creation. She actually made this a while back (CLICK HERE TO SEE ORIGINAL CARD) but thought you could use a tutorial (how cute is she?)
Here are the class details:
Class will be 10 days November 5 to 15
You will have 10 PDFs (text files you can print off)
You will have 10 videos to watch (Emma has videod them all)
Emma has a few prizes to offer in her class as well!
The cost is $5
If you are interested in signing up for the class please use the Pay Pal option below.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your day and thanks so much for stopping by!
Also, here are a few updates:
Ribbon Shares - if you ordered your ribbon shares before October 12th, the ribbon is here and will be cut/packaged today, if you ordered your ribbon share after this date, the ribbon is on it's way from SU and will be cut hopefully early next week (I will email once they are ready or shipped)
Not mine again! Emma and I were going to have a video for you today on my blog but time has run out (or in her words she got a better invitation after school:) Anyhow, I thought I'd share with you another scrapbook page....promise tomorrow will not be scrapbooking:) I apprecaite you all stopping by my blog even if you're not a scrapbooker! Although I do have to share a quick little story with you.
When I see a scrapbook page, I also see a layout for a card....don't be afraid to mix and match your stamping/scrapping and to use layouts from one craft to the next. This could make a fabulous layout for a square card.....hmmmm...maybe I'll just have to show you on a card soon:)
This page was done of my niece, Augusta. I actually used a pre-existing layout for this one and am thrilled with the outcome. I wanted it to be soft and feminine and I think that I accomplished this. Have a wonderful evening and we will be back tomorrow:)
Just thought I'd give you the heads up my post will be later today as I am just heading off to see my Grandma. Thanks for stopping by and I'll "see" you later today! Thanks!
Well, SU has outdone themselves again....check out the sweet deals for this week! I LOVE these little embellishments and at a reduced price....EVEN BETTER!!!
If you are Canadian and would like to take advantage of these great deals feel free to shop online HERE or email me at adamsum@yahoo.com
What a great weekend we have had around here! It's been productive BUT busy! I can't believe that my Simply Holidays 2009 class is almost done....only one more day left! That means we are already more than halfway done October...seriously, where does the time go?
Anyhow, last weekend we went apply picking so while I was waiting for a video to upload today I thought I'd play around a little bit more with the My Digital Studio. I just LOVE it!!!! I know a lot of you are hesitant, but I am so excited to think that I may, just may be able to stay on top of my scrapbooking right now......again, this will not replace my paper scrapbooking, but it will help me stay organized!
What I wanted to show you today with the My Digital Studio program is how I have the journaling on my page. I used the "punch" feature in the program to make the white rectangles and then the text feature to journal. The program will accept ANY font you have on your computer system...how great is that??? So all the fonts that I've downloaded over the years I'll be ablt to use on my scrapbooking!!! Anyhow, hope you enjoy the page and thanks so much for stopping by today! See you again tomorrow!
I told you I can't stop making these cute little hats! I made one up for Nathan using the pattern that I linked to yesterday on my blog post. But I increased to 80 stitches for my munchkins big noggin:) Of course I had to get him into a matching outfit and snap about a million pictures of him too!
And then what happens, yes, that's right, get onto My Digital Studio and whip together a page! This page took me about 15 minutes to make. The most tedious part was putting the buttons on the circle around his main image.
One cool feature I learns for this page was that I could match the stamps (sorry, not buttons) to his hat perfectly using the colour match tool. How fun is that? So not only do you have the 48 colours, the neutrals, this year AND last year's In Colours, you can also match to any colour!!!! How awesome is that!?!?! The embellishments come in set colours, but the papers and stamps can easily be matched to whatever shade you need and want.
Anyhow, hope you enjoy today's picture and layout. Remember you can always use the digital layouts and apply it to your traditional scrapbooking. The big circles made out of circles could be done using a variety of circle punches. Have fun with it and enjoy your Sunday!
That wasn't a very nice title, was it? A good friend of mine has had herself a little baby boy and I've been meaning to get out to see her before I put this on my blog BUT there are enough babies going on around me right now that she won't know this is for her so I thought I'd share with you today!
I found a great You Tube video on how to crochet a single crochet hat. I am NOT a crocheter (is that a word?) but I do know some basics. I thought after watching this video that maybe, just maybe I could make a hat! And I did! I was so excited, I made a hat in about 2 hours and love the outcome. So, I had to then make a few more hats (OK, I'm onto hat number 6 right now....I'm obsessed!) And then I thought I should make a little hat to match the little shirt I bought and hey, why not go find more shirts and make more hats!?!? So, that's what I've been up to!!! Long story short, here's the link to the You Tube video on the hat if you're interested. CLICK HERE
In the meantime, here are the details on this card. I like to keep my baby cards sweet and simple as that's what a baby really is....hopefully:)

I hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend, the sun is shining here and I can't wait to get outside with the kids.
I want to start off my post by thanking my ladies for last night! I had a blast at our template and technique club, thank you Lesley, Anne, BJ and Bird! (we missed you Kelly and Tina). I really am enjoying my clubs right now as I have the loveliest of ladies and nice small groups so we really are getting to know each other, thank you!!!!
For my template and technique club I try and teach a bunch of new little things to my girls. They may have made a banner before, but maybe incorporating fabric is new, or the little rosettes on the banner, or using the chunky glitter. There are lots of steps to these banners so showing all the processes I hope (and think succeeded last night) that they walk away with a project they love and also some new ideas!
The banner is made using the pennant die. The background is done in Basic Black cardstock. Then the layers on the banner are done in fabric! How fun is that??? The scallops at the bottom and the small pennants are all fabric (that I ran through the Big Shot, just like my little curtain from the other day.)
The little florettes (if you click on a picture it will enlarge so you can see them) are done using a 1 1/4 inch strip of the Cast a Spell DSP. I will do a video soon on these for you.
The letters were cut from the Big Shot Serif Alphabet. Then we covered them in Tombow Glue and the black chunky glitter...very "pooky" and fun!
I hope you like the project today and not to worry, I haven't given up on card making. I've also been working on some baby thank you cards and starting the birth announcement process so I can't share these with you just yet:) I will be back though soon with some cards:) Have a great day!
Happy Thursday to you! I'm sorry for posting so late today but I wanted to be able to share with you Mark's version of his class craft online. He reminds me he doesn't craft as often as Emma and that when he does I should really share his creations...how sweet! Anyhow, I got to go into Mark's class today and make a Halloween treat with the kids. It was so much fun! It really makes me miss having my own "classroom" (although I then go home and realize this is where I really need to be:)
Now I could have sworn I saw an idea similar to this online somewhere but when I went back to look for it, I couldn't for the life of me find it. So then I started wondering if I just dreamt it but I really think this idea came from someone and I would love to credit it if you know the rightful creator:)
The box is a triangle box (very simple box to make that requires a half sheet of paper) and then extra embellishments. The craft didn't take too long to make in class (maybe about 40 minutes with 20 kids...so this was perfect!
The kids could pick purple, gray or black for their boxes. Mark picked purple as you can see from his creation. Hope you like it and I'll see you back tomorrow! Take care.
You guys are way too sweet!!! I appreciate all the kind words and emails about my Halloween "stuff". I don't have my house completely done by any stretch but I am thrilled with what is out so far. I have included a few photos today on my site of my front entrance way. You'll recognize a lot of the items as they are photos and videos that I have done over the past month or so. Now you can see how my Perfect Plum, Old Olive and Basic Black have all come together. I will take more photos of my other rooms down the road.
The one thing you haven't seen before are my homemade curtains. Thank goodness my Grandma doesn't check out my blog as she is an AMAZING seamstress and would be disgusted with my sewing, but I wanted to make up a little curtain for my front window using the Big Shot. So, I used the small pennant, on the pennant die and cut it out of three different fabrics. I sewed these all together and then using sticky strip (I know....I couldn't sew the whole thing!) I attached the scallops to the curtain. Then I used some of the pop up glue dots, linen thread and the Playground Old Olive buttons in the middle of each scallop. I just think it turned out so cute and can't wait to make one for every season (maybe my sewing will improve over time:)
Plus in this room I have my picture frame with the Brocade Bat vinyl and the UNWelcome sign (it's tough to get a good photo of the whole area as it is such a small space. Thanks so much for stopping by!!! See you again tomorrow!
OK, this week's deal of the week is for all of you BIG SHOTS out there:) (Had to throw that in:) It is three different Big Shot dies!!! How fun is that!?!? If any of these have been on your wish list then now is the time!
The second deals of the week are from October 12, 10 AM (MT) through October 19, 9:50 AM (MT).

I had so much fun at my Halloween class last week (thank you so much ladies!!!) One of the projects we made was this Halloween themed UNWelcome sign. You know, I just thought it was too pretty to say such harsh words, but it went over really well and I'm so excited with the final project! This is hanging in my front hallway with a few plastic spiders crawling their way up the wall trying to get to the sign (stuck on with sticky tack).
The sign is just made on a 1x8x24 inch piece of wood. I spray painted it cream. First we stenciled the beautiful Brocade stencil on the wood using Basic Gray and Craft Pale Plum. Then we sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heated it up. The "U" and the "N" are purchased from Stampin' Up! in the Definately Decorative brochure (each letter came with the option of either upper or lower case). These letters are black. Then using the Big Shot and the Serif Alphabet we cut out the word "welcome" and attached it to the sign. I recommend starting with the letter "e" at the right end and working backwards to make sure it will all fit on the sign.
After the class I felt the sign needed a little something so I added the spiders from the stamp set From the Crypt. They are stamped in Basic Black Craft Ink then embossed with the clear embossing powder.
Overall I am thrilled with this project and I think I have made a bit of an impact! Can't wait for so many of you to see it in person (or IRL...right!) Have a wonderful day!
Emma and I had so much fun making these little turkey favours for Thanksgiving. The first photo you see, Emma created completely on her own for my family Thanksgiving we hosted on Saturday. She went upstairs to my craft room and came down a few hours later with a bunch of these made for all our guests. She placed them on everyone's plates and of course they were a big hit! Thanks Emma!
But Emma decided they were too much work to then remake for Adam's family's Thanksgiving dinner on Monday (and there were no treats on her original ones:) SO, off to the craft room we went and this is what we came up with. They came together very quickly and all the pieces were done using the Big Shot or a punch so it really was a quick project.
Here are the supplies we used:
Scallop and Scallop #2 and Circle #2 and the Big Shot (for cutting out the feathers and the body)
Close to Cocoa Cardstock - Large Scallop, Large Circle, Small Circle (all with the Big Shot)
Crushed Curry Cardstock - Medium Scallop (Big Shot)
Dusty Durange Cardstock - Medium Scallop (Big Shot)
More Mustard - Modern Label (cut in half), Large Star Punch
Googlie Eyes
Glue Dots
Sponging
Sweet Treat Cups
Jelly Beans
I also made a quick video for you to see how easily these come together! I hope you have a wonderful weekend with family and friends and thank you so much for stopping by!
I am so excited to say that we are well on our way to yet another successful fundraising event! Thank you to my "Simply Stars Downline Team" (these are my wonderful ladies that are in my downline and are Stampin' Up! demonstrators) as you are helping to make this event a wonderful day! We have 100 door prizes to give away, lots of AMAZING raffle items and so much more!!! I'm happy to say that we have a full house (a few spots are still available) and a day full of fun activities for you. I can't believe it's only two weekends away!!!
If you are attending the event, please bring the following items with you:
scissors and adhesive
IF you have any of these items, it would be greatly appreciated if you could bring these along with you:
mat pack and paper piercer
white gel pen
Soft Suede or Chocolate Chip ink, Old Olive Ink, Real Red Ink
Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided as well! We look forward to seeing you on the 24th at either 9:30 am or 1 pm! Thanks again for your support!!!
I hope you're not too sick of Halloween treat holders because here is another one:) We made this the other night in my Halloween class. I think this one might have been my favourite....I'm so excited to actually get to use it! The kids were excited about this one as well!!! It comes together VERY quickly so you could make a ton of these in no time. I think that's a theme of mine this year...quick, easy but nice!
Here is the recipe for this creation:
Basic Black CS - 3 1/2 x 11, "B" from the Serif Alphabet and Big Shot
Pumpkin Pie CS - 3 1/4 x 8 1/2
Cast-a-Spell DSP - 3 x 8 1/4
Sweet Treat Cups (2)
Black Gingham Ribbon 5/8 - 12 inches
Pumpkin Pie Button
Linen Thread
1 3/4 inch Circle Punch
1 1/4 inch Circle Punch
Candy!!!
I also have a quick video on how to put this baby together. I hope you like it! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family! Thanks for stopping by!
It's another Halloween treat box! Hope you don't mind but I've got lots of treat holders coming your way over the next week or so! When I saw that the Stampin' Up! Night and Day Designer Series Paper came with clear Window Sheets as well as the traditional papers I was very excited!!! The first thing I thought of was...think of the fun boxes and containers you can make showcasing yummy Halloween treats!!!! So, that's what I did!
I wanted this holder to be a little larger than the traditional sized containers. I used an 8x6 inch rectangle of the paper to make the holder. If you've never made one before, check out the video for complete instructions. One suggestion though is to either secure the ends with two rows of Sticky Strip or staples or brads. My two year old EASILY got into the bottom of the package and devoured some of the candies:) So, if you want people to stay out of the package until they are "supposed" to eat it, reinforce the seam:)
The tag for this package is from Graveyard Gala. I wanted the "party" information covered up on the tag as I just wanted a festive tag so I covered it with DSP. And of course, the yummy Pumpkin Pie Striped Ribbon goes perfectly! I hope you like the package, I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend and I'll "see" you again tomorrow! Take care!
I just love the way Nathan says, "Spooky". He has the quietest little "s" at the beginning so really you just hear "pooky" and it's too cute! Anyhow, everything I make for Halloween, which is a lot, he say is "pooky", he then puts his hands together under his chin and acts like he's scared. It's so sweet (I'll try and cature it on tape:) Then the next thing he asks is, "Is there candy?" Anyhow, sorry for all my babbling on and on there, I'll get onto today's project!
Todays project we made at my Halloween class. It is a little treat bag and matching 3x3 card. I can't tell you how quickly it came together...it was ridiculous! There is actually no stamping involved, a little sponging and just assembling. I hope you like it!
Here is the recipe:
Fancy Box Die and Big Shot
Elegant Eggplant Cardstock - Fancy Box, 6 x 3 scored at 3
Basic Black Cardstock - 2 3/4 x 3, 2 1/2 x 2 1/2
Night and Day DSP - 2 1/2 x 2 3/4, 2 1/4 x 2 1/4
1/2 inch circle punch
Googlie Eyes
Crystal Effects
5/8 Black Grosgrain Ribbon - 12 inches, 3 inches
Here is a video:
Have yourself a great day.... so excited ....Canadian Thanksgiving weekend....good food, great company and lots of down time! Enjoy!
I LOVE this stamp set yet always forget to pull it out! I bought it first thing when it was in a mini catalogue last year and then after the mini went away it appears as though my set did as well. The other day I had a few minuts to "play" and so I thought I'd pull out a set I hadn't used for a while (ie. the bottom drawer:) and voila, this is what I grabbed. I then decided to play along with the Mojo Monday challenge (click here for details) and this is what I ended up with. I'm really happy with the fall colours.
Here is the recipe for this card:
Soft Suede - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4, 3 1/2 inch circle, 5/8 x 4 (for banner) 115318
Crushed Curry - 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 (two of these) 115319

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!
I've been feeling a bit neglectful to my blog, and for this I appologize. I really enjoy doing a daily post and sharing creations with you! I've been working on so many projects lately that none feel like they are getting done(ever do that!?!?)
My Simply Holidays Class has been so much fun and I've been feeling rather festive (actually listening to Christmas music...sick I know!) SO, I thought I best get back to reality and focus on Halloween!
I've been working on my downline cards and of course I have to send them along a Halloween card this month! I just love this stamp set, twick or tweet from the Holiday Mini catalogue. It is so sweet! I stamped the pumpkin image in Stazon on the watercolour paper, then coloured it in using aqua painters and ink pads. The colours I used were Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie and a smidge of Really Rust.
Here is the recipe for this card:
Basic Black - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4, 2 x 4, 1 3/8 Circle, 1 1/4 x 2 3/4 102851
Watercolour Paper - 1 1/8 x 2 5/8 105019
Cast-A-Spell DSP - 1 7/8 x 3 7/8 115657
Elegant Eggplant - 5 1/4 x 4 105126
Pumpkin Pie - 1/2 inch circle, 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 corner rounded 105117
I am so lucky to receive such beautiful cards in the mail from many of you. I get so excited when it isn't a bill showing up in the mailbox! My downline, and friend, Linda, made me this card with a little care package full of goodies. Is it not the sweetest???
The colours are So Saffron, Certaily Celery adn Chocolate Chip. The Bear is from the current mini catalogue....so sweet!!!
I also love all the added touches Linda did with the paper piercing and Crystal Effects! Thanks again Linda. And thank you for stopping by today!

Well, when I look back over and read the comments on when Halloween can "officially" happen or be on display I think I'm meeting everyone's guidelines here...it's October:) We had a lot of fun this week building a Halloween Haunted Gingerbread house.
When I was checking out a few of my friends' blogs this week I was visiting Brandi's site and fell in LOVE with a digital layout she had done! I just thought it was the best and had to be cased (thanks Brandi!!!) So, this is my version of Brandi's creation.
I have decided in my mass amounts of digital scrapbooking I have been doing (and it's been a ton!) I am going to put together a Halloween book. I'm going to do pages from Emma's first year up until this year (with each consecutive child in it!) I thought this would be a fun coffee table book for a very fun time of year!!!! Thanks so much for stopping by today and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!!! I've got a little something up my sleeve:)
When I saw this set in the current mini catalogue I knew I had to have it! I just loved the festive little pumpkins and since I've currently got three little pumpkins of my own at home I thought this was perfect! BUT, like most things I buy I wanted to make sure it was a versatile set....and guess what....it is!!! I was able to make a sweet little Halloween card (3x3) and using the same layout and same dimensions I created a Christmas card with the same set!!!! I'm so excited!
Here is the recipe for the card:
Pumpkin Pie Cardstock - 3 x 6 scored at 3, 1 3/8 Circle (2), Modern Label Punch 105117

Old Olive Ink 102277
Pumpkin Patch Stamp Set 116499
Here is a really quick video on making the card as well:
One of the wonderful features of the My Digital Studio program is it creates so many different things (cards, scrapbooking, calendars....your possibilities truly can be endless!) Last night I decided to create a page for a calendar....it was so quick, so easy AND the actual "calendar" portion can be coordinated with the page that shows on the top....how great is that?!?!?!
For one of my family gifts this year I want to create a calendar with photos from this year in each month. So for the January 2010 calendar, there will be photos of my munchkins from 2009. Then on any special occasion, I will either include a photo (as I've done on this page) or a stamp to represent a holiday. I'm very excited about this option and even
more excited that once I make one I can print off a million!!!!! Isn't that great!?!?!
Now remember, if you are not a digital scrapbooker, these layouts can easily be created using the hands on approach of paper and punches, stamp and ink. These stamps, papers and embellishments are all Stampin' Up! so as much as I've created them here digitally, you can completely case the ideas and scrapbook them in traditional sytle.
I am just touching on the surface of all the possibilities with this program. Some things that you can see here that were quick and easy was editing the photos (changing some to black and white as well as cropping), have photos in shapes, adding shadows, adding embellishments and just making it your own personal touch!!!
Hope you like the pages and I will see you again tomorrow! If you'd like more information on MDS please don't hesitate to contact me.
